چکیده

In today's competitive business environment, operators seek to simplify their network topology in order to cut costs and create a convergent network infrastructure that is secure, easy to manage, always available, and capable of providing bandwidth to new multimedia service traffic loads and changing business needs. This paper gives an overview of broadband networks and how to provision services such as voice, which remains the main revenue generator for operators, on such networks.

Terminal Mobility in Broadband Networks

The convergence of telecommunications, computing and content industries has been one of the major trends during the recent years. The convergence has lead to the creation of a wide range of multimedia services which are available in digital form through broadband networks. In this paper we consider implications of this development to the connection control of mobile multimedia services when ter...

Study of Measures to Secure Video Phone Service Safety through a Preliminary Evaluationof the Information Security of the New IT Service

The rapid advance of communication technology is evolving the network environment into the broadband convergence network. Likewise, the IT services operated in the individual network are also being quickly converged in the broadband convergence network environment. VoIP and IPTV are two examples of such new services. Efforts are being made to develop the video phone service, which is an advance...

Evolving to “end-to-end MPLS” architectures

Increasing demand for video content, Mobile broadband and Cloud services are pushing the limits of service provider networks. Service providers need to add network capacity at the lowest cost per bit and reduce their network operations cost. Traditionally, operators have implemented separate networks for separate services (e.g., fixed and mobile) which results in a sub optimal utilization of ne...

A Hybrid Medium Access Control for Convergence of Broadband Wireless and Wireline ATM Networks

In this paper, we propose a hybrid medium access control protocol for supporting broadband integrated services in the wireless ATM networks. The integrated services include CBR, VBR and ABR traffic varying from low bit-rate to very high bit-rate. The proposed protocol is an excellent compromise of contention, reservation and polling access techniques based on the dynamic TDMA system. Extensive ...

How IMS Enables Converged Services for Cable and 3G Technologies: A Survey

The IP multimedia subsystem (IMS) is a service control overlay standardized by the 3GPP. The IMS is based on session initiation protocol (SIP) to establish, modify, and terminate the sessions. It provides a clean separation between services, signaling, and media with the potential to enable control and management of services over multiple transport technologies. In the scope of fixed-mobile con...
